Why does the summer program end this year on August 20, 2010?
Many of the classrooms we use at Central during the summer program are not ours during the school year. After we close on Friday, August 20, district teachers report back to school from summer break on August 23, the following Monday. Kids’ Place has five days to move out, allow the custodians to wax and dry floors, move back to our regular buildings and have our classroom spaces ready to go by Monday, August 30.
What can I do between the time the summer program ends and the school begins?
Some students have enjoyed a week at Ridgedale YMCA’s Camp Christmas Tree day camp during that last week of summer. Transportation is included and there are a number of convenient bus stops in St. Louis Park, including Central Community Center. Visit http://www.ymcatwincities.org/about-day-camp-christmas-tree for more information.
Kids’ Place will offer full-day care on August 30 and 31 for grades 1-6 and August 30-Sept 2 for children in kindergarten.
